As a normal average income family kid,when I was a kid and very much younger I didn’t had much resources of electronic games like the Playstation or Xbox entertainment devices,all I had was a pc and that’s when my search for interesting and attractive games begun.When I was a kid I was very addicted to this game called Need For Speed : Underground which is the seventh installment in the Need For Speed series and was developed by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts in the year 2003.This was the first game in the series that used the THX technology.There were two different games that was produced,one was made for the consoles and windows and another one was made for the Game Boy Advance.
Back then,Underground rebooted the franchise,ignoring the previous Need For Speed games which featured sport cars and exotics.It was the first game in the series to offer a career mode featuring a story line and a garage mode that allowed players to fully customize their cars with a large variety of brand name performance and visual upgrades.All the racers would take place in a generic city at night called olympic City,though the city bears some resemblance to the New York City,San Francisco and Los Angeles.This time rather than having exotic cars,Underground featured vehicles associated with the import scene.Underground was commercially successful,and inspired a sequel.
The plot of this game is kept simple and can be easily understood by everyone.The players are required to straight start into action with a circuit race driving and they will be equipped with a uniquely styled Acura Integra Type R with a Mantis Wide Body Kit easily winning it’s opponents only to be woken up by Samanth which is known as Cindy Johnson from his daydreaming. Samantha is the player’s friend in the new enviroment where she will show the player how the console with the races work,and introduce the other characters in the game and olso makes fun of the player’s starter car.Eddie,who has a orange Nissan Skyline is the leader of the Eastsiders and current top racer of the streets and Melissa is his girlfriend.
As time passes by,races will be won by the player and they will meet many more racers and eventually gathers a small list of names that continually challenges the player and are defeated.Then the player will be introduced to T.J,who will be promising to give away his unique performance upgrade in return of beating his time trial challenges.Same goes to Samantha from time to time but she will be offering unique visual upgrades.
The players successful victories does not impress Eddie.First,he will mock the player’s skill by saying that he has a long way to go to master his streets and then later in the game when the player builds enough reputatation and he becomes too hard to ignore,Eddie will be challenging him to beat Samantha in a sprint race before having a race with him and when the player is willing to go for it,it will trigger her to be furious.Samantha will burn out her civic’s engine trying to keep up with the player in the sprint race.Tj will be taking the junked car for himself after the event.
Once the player becomes close in reaching number 1 in all kinds of races,Eddie tries once again to get rid of his rival and around the same time,player will be seeing Tj in Samantha’s recovered car but just in vandalised condition but definitely working again.Both will be running a circuit race which the loser has to lose his car to the opponent and the player will be winning the Civic.The player will be returning the car to Samantha to make amendments and in return Samantha rewards the player with a choice of wide bodykits for his car.
Right after this sweet moment,Eddie challenges the player and loses,like everyone else before this in the game,but before and victory can be announced,a legendary silver Nissan 350Z challenges the player for a last run through the market street circuit and this challenger who after being beaten by the player would reveal herself to be Eddie’s girlfriend,Melissa.Once all of this is completed,the player becomes the new best underground racer in the city.
